Robért de Bruyne Larroque Obituary

Lafayette, LA - Robért de Bruyne Larroque, a native of Jeanerette, Louisiana, and a long-time resident of Lafayette, Louisiana, passed away at his home after a brief illness on June 13, 2025. A 1977 graduate of St. Joseph High School in Jeanerette, Robért went on to the University of Southwestern Louisiana (UL Lafayette), where in 1981, he graduated with a degree in accounting.

Robért's career as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) spanned nearly 45 years, and included positions at several major Acadiana healthcare, educational, and non-profit institutions. More recently, Robért worked independently as a CPA and notary for various clients.

Robért was one-of-a-kind. The fifth of seven children, he was a much-loved family member. According to his mother, Robért learned to read before first grade. Also, his ability to remember dates and family events was legendary. He had many friends growing up and was involved in numerous activities: Altar server at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Jeanerette, Boy Scouts, and National Honor Society, to name a few. Robért loved animals, especially dogs. He also had a beautiful singing voice and was a long-time member of Chorale Acadianne, Rosewood Concert of Early Music and St. John Cathedral Choir. Robért was a devoted music lover and a big fan of Motown, especially The Supremes. He also possessed an extensive record collection covering all musical genres. He was a huge fan of the TV show "Jeopardy." He knitted caps for children and donated them to the Women & Children' Hospital of Lafayette.

Robért had a sometimes outrageous, often bone-dry sense of humor. He brightened and lightened the mood of every room he entered, be it a hospital room, a wake, a wedding, or an informal family gathering. Wherever there was laughter, there was Robért. He was also a kind, loving and gentle person.

He is survived by his devoted friend and companion of many years, Morris Skipper, and beloved dog, Pepper.

Robért was preceded in death by his parents, Adolphe Aimé and Elizabeth Burke Larroque, and a nephew, J. Burke Larroque, Jr. He leaves behind brothers André of Albuquerque, NM, Charles of Lafayette, LA, and Jacques Larroque of Jeanerette, LA; and two sisters, Sr. Celeste Larroque, SEC, of Lafayette, LA, Lisette Larroque Carmichael of Baton Rouge, LA and Nicole Larroque Dufour of New Orleans. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews, including the Larroque, Carmichael, and Dufour families, as well as the Skipper, Blair and Orphe families.

In lieu of cards and flowers, the family asks that friends consider making donations in Robért's name to any of the following organizations: The American Cancer Society, Alzheimer Association, Faith House of Acadiana, Associated Catholic Charities and the Lafayette Animal Shelter & Care Center.

According to his wishes, Robért's celebration of life will be a private family gathering.
