Lafayette, LA - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 3:00 PM at St Mary, Mother of the Church in Lafayette for Melba Ann Pierret Daigle, age 89, who passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. The family requests that visitation be observed at the Church on Thursday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 2:00 PM.

Interment will be held in Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery in Lafayette.

Reverend Cedric Sonnier, Pastor of St. Mary, Mother of the Church, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will officiate the services.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Daigle; and her niece, Rane Riche Sills.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Daigle; her son, Robert Daigle; her parents, J.G. Pierret and Rose Whittington Pierret; and her sister, Yvonne Riche.

Melba was a graduate of Lafayette High School, and received her nursing degree from Southwestern Louisiana Institute. During her long dedicated career, she worked as an LPN for Charity Hospital, then as a private duty nurse, and retired from United Blood Services. She served as secretary for 2 years for the Third District of LPN's. Her hobbies included travel, playing bingo, line dancing, and she won numerous gold and silver medals at the Senior Olympics in the pistol and rifle competition.
