Lafayette, LA - John Kerber Boudreaux was born to Elie and Rosalie Boudreaux on May 8, 1946. He spent his childhood in Chalmette, LA. John moved to Lafayette, LA, to attend the University of Southwestern Louisiana (USL). Partway through his college education, he enlisted in the United States Naval Reserve on June 11, 1967; he was stationed at the Naval Communications Station in Guam until his honorable discharge on June 19, 1972. John returned to USL, where he graduated with a degree in Communication in December 1973.
John moved to Slidell in 1974, where he started working for Martin Marietta. While in Slidell, he started a DJ business and enjoyed acting with Slidell Little Theatre.
In 1978, a son Wesley was born to John and his wife, Dr. Holly Broom. A couple of years later, John and Holly welcomed their daughter, Darce'.
In 1993, John married his second wife, Arlene. They lived in Mansfield, TX, and Apopka, FL, where John retired from Northrop Grumman. In March 2017, John and Arlene relocated to Lafayette, LA.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 31 years, Arlene Boudreaux, son, Wesley Boudreaux (Jillian), and daughter, Darce' Byrd (Chris); his stepchildren, Tracey Statham, Brenden Hughes (Jody), Kirsten Hughes, and Kathleen McClamroch (Mike); his brother, Elie "Bud" Boudreaux (Dolly), sister Margret "Bootsie" Durand (Norris), and brother, Thomas "Tommy" Boudreaux (Donna) and 12 grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Hope Hospice and John' caretakers.
A celebration of John's life will be held on Saturday, February 7 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm at The Vincent Senior Living facility in the Independent Living building. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Red Oaks Collective (1604 W. Pinhook Rd., Suite 162, Lafayette, LA 70508) or Louisiana United Methodist Children and Family Services (lumcfs.org/donate).
