Lafayette, LA - Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 1:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette for George Hubert White, age 74, who passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, at Hospice of Acadiana - Calcutta House in Lafayette.

Reverend Howard Blessing will officiate the services.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Martin & Castille's Downtown Location from 9:00 AM until time of services.

A Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 AM.

Survivors include his beloved wife Celia Marie Thibodeaux; his children, George Cortney White (Amber), Lesley Anne White (Partner Gary); grandchildren, George Brennan White (Madeline), Riley Clare White, and Taylor Paige White; great-grandson, George Waylon White; nephews, Don Swearingen (Nancy), William L.White III, Darwin Paul White; and great niece and nephews, Cara Swearingen, Kevin Swearingen, Ryan Swearingen (Leticia), and Garret S. White.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Camille Marie Planche White and William Leo White,Sr.; sisters, June "Tugy" Swearingen Holiday and Connie M. White; brother, William Leo White, Jr.; and nephews, Carl Swearingen and Mike Swearingen.

Born in Bogalusa on September 22, 1951, to Camille and Leo White, George was the youngest of four. He graduated from LSU with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He spent a long and dedicated career with the Department of Corrections, serving many years as Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Department of Corrections, Juvenile Services. Friends and colleagues will remember George for his kind heart, quick wit, and quiet strength.

He was a devoted son who enjoyed spending time with his mother until her passing at the age of 103. He was a fierce advocate for his family as a son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, and he was a dedicated and loving husband.

George enjoyed spending time with friends and family and being in the great outdoors. He loved dancing and traveling-especially by motorcycle-as well as gardening and beekeeping.

Urn Bearer will be Cortney White.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in George Hubert White's name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St. Lafayette, LA 70503.

His family extends their deepest appreciation to Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center, Lourdes Oncology Center, Dr. Jeff Thibodeaux, and Dr. Brierre and his staff for exceptional care for the past several years and to Hospice of Acadiana - Calcutta House for the comfort and dignity they provided in George's final days.
