Lafayette, LA - Catholic Memorial services will be held for Dr. Preston "Jay" Webre, Jr. at 1:30 PM on Thursday, October 23, 2025, in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille of Lafayette. Jay, as he was affectionately known, was 76 when he passed away peacefully at his home on October 19, 2025, with his beloved wife by his side. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 11:30 AM until the time of the funeral service at 1:30 PM at Martin & Castille Funeral Home, 330 St Landry Street, Lafayette, LA 70506. Reverend Howard Blessing will officiate at the services. Jay was a native of Thibodaux, LA and a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was a graduate of LSU Dental School, and later operated a successful private dental practice in Lafayette, where he cared deeply for his patients and community. Jay loved being outside-whether he was hunting, fishing, playing a round of golf, or working in his garden. He was also a lifelong supporter of LSU football and cherished his many friendships. But above all, what truly brought him happiness was spending time with his grandchildren. Family vacations and time together created some of his most treasured memories. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sydney Blanchard Webre; his son, Doug Webre, and wife, Lexie Webre; grandsons, Preston "Fisher" Webre and John Douglas "Jack" Webre; and a granddaughter, Eloise Ann Webre. He is also survived by one brother, Robert Webre and wife Debi, two sisters, Judie W. Martinez and Mary W. Terracina and husband Chris, along with many nieces and nephews. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys Roux Webre and Preston Joseph Webre, Sr. He will be remembered for his devotion to family, his work ethic, and his quick wit.
